Dr. Afisu, Basiru is an astute academic, accomplished researcher and teacher. He holds DVM, M.Sc. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria where he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He conducts research in the area of Reproductive Physiology, Endocrinology and Ethnomedicine. Dr. Basiru has over forty publications to his credit in local and international outlets.
He is a member of the professional bodies such as global Andrology forum, Society of Toxicology (SOT); The Physiological Society, UK and Society for Study of Reproduction (SSR).
Administratively, he is the managing editor of Savannah Veterinary Journal. He has also served as Faculty Representative to the University Junior staff Appointment and Promotion committee, Dog Show committee among others.
Dr. Afisu, Basiru is open to collaboration in reproductive physiology, endocrinology and Phytomedicine research.
